Hi people,
With a snapshot from saturday, I'm seeing what looks to be GPU lockups
when using GL-heavy applications.
The graphics output freezes and the LEDs on an attached USB keyboard
can't be toggled anymore. Sound still works and plays as if nothing is
amiss. SSH into the box works as well.
Neither dmesg nor Xorg.0.log show anything out of the ordinary and no
new entries appeared in either when the lockup happened. After another
minute or so, the SSH session locks up as well and the sound from the
game stops playing.
If I try to reboot the box in the meantime, it the reboot hangs, with
nothing on the display changing.
I've seen this with the games dhewm3 and OpenRA. I _think_ I may have
also seen this lock up when I left my laptop idle at the xenodm login
screen and the display wouldn't turn back on after the screen blanked,
but I'm not sure about that.
Other applications such as Chrome don't seem to trigger this, and other
things that rely on driver support for the GPU such as suspend to RAM
work nicely.
These steps reproduce the problem on my laptop:
1. Start dhewm3 or OpenRA
2. In either, start a regular single player game ("skirmish" in OpenRA)
3. The games work fine for a bit (about a minute), then the graphics
hang. Sound continues playing.
4. SSH into the box, nothing new in dmesg or Xorg.0.log
5. After a short while (in the order of a minute or so) the SSH session
locks up as well.
I have attached a dmesg and the Xorg.0.log from the current boot after
the signature.
Is there anything I can do to debug this further?
